Initially, the project will focus on three climate risks that are prevalent in Bangladesh: saline water intrusion, drought and flood. Based on the severity of vulnerability and poverty, CCCP has identified the following target climate risk areas:
Flood: Barisal- Babuganj Upazila; Cox’s Bazar- Moheskhali Upazila; Jamalpur- Bakshiganj, Dewanganj, Islampur, Madarganj & Melandaha Upazila; Mymensingh- Gauripur, Haluaghat, Iswarganj, Nandail & Phulpur Upazila; Bagerhat- Fakirhat Upazila; Jessore- Jhikargacha & Katwali Upazila; Khulna- Batiaghata, Dighalia & Rupsha Upazila; Kurigram- Char Rajibpur, Chilmari, Raumari, & Ulipur Upazila; Niphamari-Jaldhaka, Kishoreganj & Nilphamari Sadar Upazila.
Drought: Chuadanga- Damurhuda Upazila; Jessore- Jhikargacha, Chougacha, Monirampur, Sharsha & Katwali Upazila; Naogaon- Porsha, Naogaon Sadar, Niamatpur & Patnitala Upazila; Rajshahi- Godagari & Tanore Upazila; Satkhira- Assasuni & Debhata Upazila; Natore- Lalpur & Natore Sadar Upazila.
Salinity: Satkhira- Shyamnagar, Kaliganj & Assasuni Upazila; Khulna- Batiaghata, Dighalia, Dacope & Rupsha Upazila; Jessore- Jhikargacha & Katwali Upazila; Bagerhat- Sarankhola, Morrelganj & Fakirhat Upazila; Patuakhali- Kalapara, Golachipa & Dashmina Upazila; Barguna- Amtali & Barguna Sadar Upazila.
